Ethan Allen, Fogle & The Grape team up
WHAT: Lunch and Learn series
WHEN: Wednesdays through the end of June 11:30 am- 1 pm
Sometimes it’s difficult to picture a work of art in a home setting. Fogle Fine Art and Accessories will be providing work from six artists to be displayed in three different home interior settings at Ethan Allen next to the St. Johns Town Center.
But they’re doing more than just displaying contemporary works of art. Fogle, Ethan Allen and The Grape are teaming up to present the Art & Interiors Lunch and Learn Series.
The lunches last from 11:30 am - 1 pm, and are a terrific value at just $20. That will get you a lunch catered by the Town Center’s The Grape restaurant, a goodie bag and an interesting, informative lecture from a local art expert. Lectures will focus on various topics such as the art of frame-making, fine art for fine homes and art history. All proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.
Cast a ballot for one of three artists and that artist will donate a piece of art work to the Ronald McDonald House. Everyone who votes will be entered in a drawing for a $1,000 Ethan Allen gift card. Voting is free, but they do ask that you donate $5 when casting your vote.
“Part of our philosophy is to be part of the community,” said Leigh Fogle of Fogle Fine Art and Accessories at the June 6th Lunch and Learn. Although this particular lecture was focused on Impressionism through Pop Art on a global basis, the speaker, Debra Murphy (Chair of the Dept. of Art & Design at UNF), often referred to local collections and shows at various local museums and galleries. The vivacious Dr. Murphy couldn’t help but point out that “there’s such a tremendous vitality in the arts here in Jacksonville.”
You can come in to view the Art & Interiors displays through the end of the month, even if you don’t attend any of the lunches. The artists on display include Clara Blalock, Ursula Brenner, Penio, Volk, John Duckworth and Downe Burns. Each artist has something different to offer: the ultra-contemporary, manipulated digital photography landscapes of Duckworth, the flat but colorful crowded houses of Burns or the rich blended abstracts of Ursula Brenner. The artists are also geographically diverse. Penio hails from Bulgaria, Blalock is an Atlanta native, Brenner is from Ohio, Volk paints in South Dakota, Duckworth has moved to Charleston from San Diego and Downe Burns gives us a taste of Texas.
