Bomberman Live
for Xbox 360
After the disappointment that was Bomberman Act Zero for the XBox 360, its developer, Hudson, had a lot to make up for. Not only was it a bad game, but many people considered it to be one of the worst games on the system. So does this new Bomberman do any better? The answer to that is an emphatic YES. But what is so great about it? The graphics are far from next-gen, but they do the job effectively. All of the characters in the game are colorful, and each person playing can customize their Bomberman character to their liking with lots of different accessories to choose from. Gameplay-wise, Bomberman Live plays just like almost every other version of Bomberman to date. The goal is to navigate your character around in a large single-screen maze, using bombs to clear a path, uncover power ups, and to defeat your enemies. (And by enemies, I mean other players.)
Bomberman Live’s best aspect is its amazing multiplayer functionality. Not only can you face off on Xbox live in games running with eight people, you can also bring four friends to play with you online from a single game console. Playing online is simple, and if you have an Xbox Live Vision camera, you can use that online in the menu screens. Bomberman is one of those games that can really appeal to all age groups, and though learning to play the game is simple, anyone can have a great time with it. This is one of my favorite Xbox Live titles to date.
epic shredding of destruction: round 2
North Florida’s latest major Guitar Hero tournament
WHAT: Guitar Hero tournament
WHERE: [skateboard shop] Board City of Orange Park
WHEN: Sunday, July 29th
If the size of the previous tournament can be an indicator, this weekend’s Guitar Hero face-off should be packed with wall-to-wall games of Guitar Hero. In addition to the major draw, the latest edition of Guitar Hero running in tournament style fashion, there should be some other casual video games running as well. Entry is open to anyone wanting to play. Five dollars is asked as a door fee, and the 10 dollars to enter the tournament will be split amongst the winners as a cash prize. Bringing your own PS2 guitar controller is encouraged, but not required. Additionally, you can get a discounted door fee if you dress up in 80s gear! The Event starts at 6 pm. For more info on this tourney, log onto the forums of scorehero.com and search for Orange Park in the tournaments category, or call Isak at Board City at (904) 272-6996. Hopefully, we’ll see you there!
